Snooki trying to play matchmaker for Kim Kardashian

Now that Kim Kardashian has made the move out to the East Coast, she has a huge new pool of eligible men to choose from. Kim moved to New York with her older sister earlier this week to begin filming another Kardashian reality show. “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” will follow the two sisters as they open a new DASH location. And as a newly single woman, Kim’s search for love will play a prominent role on the show.

Luckily, the 29-year-old socialite will have plenty of help finding the perfect man during her time in New York.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, star of MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” has reached out to Kim with a potential new suitor. On Saturday, Snooki posted a suggestion on Kim’s Twitter page stating: “So my dad wanted me to tell you that he’s available if you’re single. -_-”

Strangely enough, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star did not have a reply for Snooki. Perhaps she is trying to keep her options open for one of Snooki’s co-stars. Pauly D recently gushed that he was “in love” with Kim after one brief phone conversation.

Do you think Kim would make a good Jersey Girl?

Snooki Opens Up About Her Life On the Miami

The poofs were out in full force Thursday night in anticipation of a visit from one of the most controversial people on television — ‘Jersey Shore’ star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.

“If any of you are wearing bump-its, I’m going to f***ing kill you,” Polizzi told the amped crowd of nearly 1,000 people gathered at the Binghamton University event. The upstate New Yorkers saw Snooki judge an ab contest, give some fist-pumping lessons and talk about her life with her shore mates.

Snooki took part in a Q&A led by comedian Michael Dean Esther, then answered questions from the audience about her decision to go on the show, her castmates and her plans for the future.

Snooki, who is close with both of her parents, said her dad was supportive of her decision to be on the show. “He told me it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and to go for it,” she said.

The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native told the crowd she usually watches the show with him as it airs, unless she knows she’s going to hook up with someone — “That would be awkward.”

Despite the drama of the current season, Snooki assured the audience that she and all her castmates (minus Angelina) are all friends again, and there are no hard feelings — even with Ronnie and Sammi. “I love Ronnie when he’s single,” Snookers said. “He’s a lot more fun.”

And as for Sammi and the infamous note: “She realized we were being true friends. She feels like an idiot.”

Angelina’s exit from the show last Thursday was anything but depressing for the cast of ‘Jersey Shore,’ especially Snooks, whose throwdown with the Kim Kardashian of Staten Island may have sparked the latter’s decision to leave. “I’m not one to fight, but when it’s a bitch like that, it’s liberating,” Snickers explained.

The Q&A then got a little personal as she talked about her various hookups with the housemates. In case you were wondering, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is a good kisser, Vinnie has the biggest … you know, and if she had to hook up with any girl in the house it would be JWOWW. “She let’s me sleep on her boobs all the time,” Snooki said. “They’re nice.”

Her encounter with Vinnie, which was shown earlier in the season, wasn’t as successful as the episode made it out to be. “It didn’t work ’cause it’s too big,” Snicks explained. “I’m not a loosey goose like Angelina.”

Snooki, who was studying to be a veterinary technician before taking time off for ‘Jersey Shore,’ said she plans to go back to school once things calm down. She also had some sage advice for the undergraduates.

“Do your studies, only party on the weekends,” Snooki said. “Unless it’s a really good party.”

“Jersey Shore” Spin-Off “Brighton Beach” Gets Green Light

The Lifetime Network has ordered 12 episodes of a Jersey Shore-inspired reality show that will be based in Brooklyn’s Russian-American community. As the New York Post quips, “Lifetime has cast its ‘nyet’ into local New York waters.”

Although it remains to be seen, the “unscripted” drama claims to take a different approach than what you see with Snooki and her friends according to the Hollywood Reporter:

Unlike MTV’s youthful hit, however, “Brighton” will have a multigenerational cast that better reflects Lifetime’s audience. The show will chronicle several colorful families, with the show’s action centered on a popular local nightclub.

In keeping with Lifetime’s demographic, the show will be more woman centered. A Lifetime network executive provides this explanation to the New York Times:

It’s about their dating life, their work life, their relationships together and their external relationships. It characterizes a community; it’s not a bunch of people put in a house. It’s done in the Lifetime voice, not in the MTV voice.

According to the Post, filming will begin soon in the Coney Island area; the finished episodes are expected to show up on Lifetime next spring or summer.

‘South Park’ Sneak Peek: It’s a ‘Jersey Shore’ Invasion

Last week Cartman infiltrated the “Poor and Stupid” world of NASCAR. But next week, it’s South Park that will need to defend against invaders: The tanned, ripped and roaring residents of New Jersey, as epitomized on shows like Jersey Shore and The Real Housewives of New Jersey. On South Park, they’re not just taking over our airwaves. They’re taking over the world.

Here’s the episode description: “Everything east of the Rockies is now part of New Jersey! South Park is in danger of becoming West Jersey within the week. As the Jerseyites spill into Colorado and approach South Park, Randy and the boys stand strong against the onslaught.”

Watch the promo for Wednesday’s episode, in which an army of raging guidos descends upon South Park like so many Lord of the Rings orcs:

South Park mocking Jersey Shore almost seems TOO easy, but I like where they’re going with this literal take on an invasion (What weapons will the Jersey kids wield? Full bottles of tequila? Toxic hairspray?), and I hope that Matt and Trey move beyond the obvious (the issue I took with this week’s NASCAR digs) and really get at what makes the Jersey craze, and its residents, so absolutely absurd.

Speaking of absurd: Have you read this week’s “best” Jersey Shore quotes yet?

“The Jersey Invasion” airs Wednesday at 10pm on Comedy Central.

Vinny Says ‘Love Is Louder’ Than Abuse

In the wake of recent suicides reportedly related to anti-gay taunting, such as Rutgers student Tyler Clementi and 13-year-old Seth Walsh, MTV has teamed up with the Jed Foundation and actress Brittany Snow, with support from DoSomething.org, the Trevor Project, Reach Out, Active Minds and the Ad Council for the Love Is Louder initiative. The campaign strives to provide messages of hope and love to young people who feel they have no place to turn.

High-profile faces are joining Snow in an effort to remind teens that support is available, regardless of the challenges they may face. “Jersey Shore” castmember Vinny Guadagnino has recently stepped up to remind young people that although taunts can hurt, there is always relief from the pain.

“I want you to know that I know how it feels to be bullied and disrespected. But I also want you to know that there’s always, always love and support all around you,” Guadagnino said in a video posted on Your.MTV.com on Friday. “So make sure you give love [and] receive love [because] love is a lot louder than abuse.”

Like Guadagnino, Snow remembered being bullied when she was younger and was touched by the shocking suicides of young people like Clementi and Walsh. The “Hairspray” star recently explained to MTV News that she wanted to orchestrate a project that not only comforts teens but empowers them. So, she connected with her pal Courtney Knowles, executive director of the Jed Foundation, to launch an inspiring enterprise.

“Love Is Louder is a movement that is hopefully going to bring some awareness and make some noise when it comes to teens who are feeling suicidal or even just sad, outcasts, and being bullied, and really feel like they have nowhere to turn to,” Snow explained. “It’s a place where people who have been through it can support them and share their stories, [so they will know] that they’re not alone, and that there’s a place for people to put their experiences and hope.”

For more information and to get involved with Love Is Louder, visit the project’s Facebook page. You can also upload videos to Your.MTV.com, just like Brittany and Vinny did. You can also keep the conversation going on Twitter by using the hashtag #loveislouder.

The Situation updates new iPhone app with DWTS voting capabilities

Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino only released his new iPhone app in September, but already there’s a new version intended to help keep him on Dancing With the Stars as long as possible. The MTV reality star confirmed Friday on Twitter, “The Situation” app version 1.1 allows users to vote for him and his partner Karina Smirnoff on Dancing With the Stars.

The Situation has struggled on DWTS show, but so far has managed to escape an early departure despite relatively low scores. Now he’s trying to make it as easy as possible for his fans to vote for him.

The iPhone app “The Situation” is among Apple’s Top 10 money-making entertainment apps. Along with Dancing With the Stars voting support, the updated version of “The Situation” app still includes a “GTL Finder” for locating facilities offering GTL services, a video game called “Grenade Dodger,” and an ab routine workout.

The Situation app is the latest in a line of Jersey Shore related iPhone apps. Spread Snooki and Pauly D’s iPhone app were both released earlier this summer.

Angelina’s departure beats ‘The Mentalist’ in demo

Even though the broadcast TV season is now officially upon us, the stars of “Jersey Shore” still know how to pull in an audience. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thursday’s new episode — which featured the dramatic departure of Angelina Pivarnick from Miami — brought in a new ratings record for the season with 6.7 million and a 3.4 ratings in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

Let’s put this in some perspective. The show had a higher overall audience than “The Apprentice” on NBC (as a matter of fact, it nearly doubled their 3.7 million) — in addition, its demo rating was higher than “The Mentalist” for CBS or “Private Practice” on ABC.

There were some questions at the start of this season as to if “Jersey Shore” could keep some of these high ratings going after the initial hype of the series wore off, but as it turns out things only keep getting better and better.

The Situation Skips Party to Practice Dance Moves

Believe it or not, The Situation is choosing to practice instead of party.

Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino was expected to host Rehab, a poolside party at the Hard Rock in Vegas last Sunday, but canceled the trip to work on his quickstep for Dancing With the Stars.

And while a Hard Rock rep said “We were told he was ill,” his booking manager confirms he bailed on the bash to rehearse…

“Yes, he is taking DWTS very seriously. [He] understands that everyone else has a two-week jump on him as far as rehearsals and wants to give this his full attention,” he tells me.

So did his extra practice time pay off last night?

Well, he didn’t receive the lowest score from the judges Monday, but only time will tell. The booted contestant will be announced on tonight’s show.

Fingers crossed it’s not Mike, since he skipped out on fist-pumping in Vegas to work on his ballroom moves!

‘Jersey Shore’ Just Part Of ‘I Like It’ Success

It seems like “I Like It” owes a lot of its success to a little television phenomenon known as “Jersey Shore.” The Enrique Iglesias jam, which features the cast of the MTV reality show in its video, had many a club-goer jamming to the beat at their local Karma outpost. But the song’s producer, RedOne, thinks that being linked to the show is only one of the puzzle pieces that created the song’s overwhelming success.

“No, I’m not tied to the ‘Jersey Shore,’ ” he told MTV News when he stopped by our office last week. “If your song is good, it’s going to survive all the way. It started with ‘Jersey Shore,’ and then radio.”

He explains that Iglesias was looking to reinvent himself, and this was just the right tune.

“People were calling radio like crazy because radio wouldn’t play Enrique,” RedOne said. “Thanks to Enrique, because he delivered an incredible performance. Pitbull was a really important factor to that song too. Everybody’s energies helped, made it go all the way. ‘Jersey Shore’ was just one piece out of the whole thing.”

RedOne said that in addition to working with Lady Gaga — and not working with Lindsay Lohan — he is back in the studio with Iglesias, trying to cook up some more magic.

“We’re still working and doing songs,” he explained. “If you love music and you have your passion and you know what you’re doing, you just focus and do it well and with the quality.

“We’re gonna make people dance,” he continued. “We’re gonna make people happy. That’s what we did with ‘I Like It.’ … We’re just gonna get together and do what we do.”

Pauly D Gets a ‘Jersey Shore’ Spin-off

Jersey Shore star, reliable wingman, blowout poster boy and current king of quips Pauly DelVecchio, known as DJ Pauly D to his fans, has secured his own spin-off, Radar Online reports.

What makes Pauly worthy of becoming the Frasier to his Cheers, the Joey to his Friends? Perhaps it’s that, of the seven main residents of the Jersey Shore house, he’s the only one with a real job. (Shilling gelato and making club appearances doesn’t really count. Nor does spinning Karina Smirnoff on Dancing with the Stars. Sorry, Sitch.)

The spin-off will center on Pauly’s spinning career as a club DJ, starting with its name (still TBA): “They have already chosen a name and of course it will be deejay-related,” reports Radar.

Jersey Shore just wrapped filming season 3 back in its namesake state, and has already been renewed for season 4 (which, judging by the underwhelming drama on season 2 thus far, sounds a lot like counting one’s chickens before they get drunk and bite off the heads of the other chickens, if you ask me), but Radar’s source says Pauly’s Jersey Shore obligations won’t get in the way:

“It’s another MTV reality show and he’ll be DJ-ing and of course doing things his fans love to watch,” the source laughed, referring to Pauly’s way with the ladies. So, by “doing things,” they mean “doing random girls”? Got it.

What will Pauly’s new spinning spin-off be called? As usual, I’ve got some ideas. How about … DJ Tannest? (FULL HOUSE JOKE!) Spin Sh*tty? Pauly Shore? (That last one may be a little too confusing, but would definitely tap directly into the highly coveted Biodome fan demographic.)

Whatever the name, the more important question is whether the usually level-headed (but high-haired) Pauly will be able to sustain enough interest when he goes from ensemble cast member to main star. How will he dish out his words of wisdom (we’re grading on a curve here) without his housemates around to make all those mistakes? Will The Situation need make a guest appearance to add excitement, a la Jennifer Aniston on Cougar Town?
